Evaluation of corn gluten meal for preemergence weed management in cranberry
Corn gluten meal (CGM) is a natural product that is typically used as a fertilizer (8-0-0), but also has reported herbicidal activity against germinating seeds. Its use as a method of preemergence weed control on cranberry farms was evaluated. The use of CGM in cranberry is a novel approach, therefore a greenhouse study was conducted to evaluate any potential phytotoxicity or harmful effects of...

Chromobacterium subtsugae was isolated from cranberry bogs in Massachusetts. While it is unknown what environmental role these bacteria play in bog soils, they hold potential as biological control agents against the larvae of insect pests. Potential virulence genes were identified, including the violacein synthesis pathway, siderophores, and several chitinases.

Background: The characteristic clinical presentation of glomus tumors and the low negative predictive value of themagnetic resonance imaging (MRI) raise the question whether MRI improves their management. Therefore, this studyaimed to investigate whether MRI improved the management of glomus tumors. Methods: In total, 87 patients with a histologically confirmed glomus tumor wer...
متن کاملThe Combined Effect of Biological Control with Plant Competition on the Management of Parthenium Weed (parthenium Hysterophorus L.)
Parthenium hysterophorus L., (Asteraceae) commonly known as parthenium weed, is a highly invasive plant that has become a problematic weed of pasture lands in Australia and many other countries around the world. For the management of this weed, an integrated approach comprising biological control and plant competition strategies was tested in southern central Queensland. Two competitive pasture...
